Malaga: a route by the capital of the Coast of the Sun

Malaga is necessary to enjoy it step by step, enjoying each typical corner, each street, each sand grain of its beaches. To begin the morning in the dawn, between the silence of the sound from the gulls, and the scent to sea that the dew brings to us. And to taste and almost to chew that sea and that sand that seems to float in the atmosphere of this open city. And when it has already dawn and the first sun rays shine in the city, in the only tower of our dear “Manquita”, the magnificent Cathedral of Malaga, to begin to enjoy its temperature, its gilded heat, and to hear and to feel as the city rises your around… Malaga, tourist city; Malaga, the capital of the Coast of the Sun.

This that I tell you it is a route that, like malagueño which I am, it would recommend to anyone. It would be that route to which it would take to who it loved to enjoy my city, looking for most typical of our earth. Desires levantaros early to You? Then yes, we began the day with energy. 6 in the morning. And we looked for the more emblematic high point of the city: Gibralfaro. On our feet the coast is had left malagueño, between mañaneras mists, the smooth whisper of the small waves breaking in the border. And in its Inn, the Inn of Gibralfaro we looked for parking for our car. You bet the cameras because on your feet a spectacle worthy is opened to remember. That photo that will remain in the memory, and that without a doubt some will be prettiest of how many you do in the city. On your feet, slightly to the right the city extends, with the Cathedral and the City council excelling between all the buildings. To its back the fabulous Fortress, worthy representative of one of the times culturally richer of Andalusia: the Arab time, with its kingdoms of Taifas. Right opposite yours, watching the sea, the Malagueta, the Bullring that so well-known has become in the bullfighting circles. The Malagueta, next to the sea to which it is opened, and that extends almost until its same slope, grandísimo port and the Park that gives access to the city, conforms the most typical photo of Malaga.

Tomaros the time that you need until seeing appear the Sun in the horizon, between the trees of the Stroll of Reding, from the Eastern coast. You enjoy the spectacle of colors that their reflections produce as soon as it is opened to your eyes, and savor as in the distance the city seems to stretch to welcome a new day. Little by little the day begins, and the city recovers its habitual pulse. You take advantage of to take forces with a good cafelito in he himself Inn, in its terrace, and immediately afterwards you raise a little more until reaching the Castle of Gibralfaro, just upon the Inn.

The Castle of Gibralfaro opens to 9 h. so you have time. By hardly two euros vagaréis among the walls of which a day lodged a mosque and that were connected to the Fortress by means of already disappeared the running one of Coracha. You return to the car to again lower to the Gibralfaro mount and dirigiros to the Marine Stroll, in the direction of downtown. A good place to leave the car is the Stroll of the Lamppost, mainly because it is an ideal place to enjoy an pleasant stroll next to the sea and the Port when still it is morning and does not tighten the Sun. You raise until the very same feet of the Lamppost, and from you lower there bordering the Mediterranean Club, next to beaches of the Malagueta. That way you will leave to the Source of Three Thanks, the one that presides over all the set of the Park of Malaga. In he himself beginning of the Park, from the Seat of general Torrijos, we were the Gardens of Dark Door, designed by architect Guerrero Strachan, a small park with terraces, public squares, footpaths and alcorques. Its situation is privileged person, and from him precious photos of the set of the Fortress and the City council of Malaga are obtained, that data of end of century XIX.

The Stroll of the Park, just reformed at the beginning of the 2007, is the true heart of the city. Sources and 800 meters of pleasant strolls between sinfín of tropical and subtropical plants that will take you seat to an opened, of a great marine flavor, and where preside over with their imposing image the statue of Marquess de Larios. One is located right to the entrance of the main street of the city, now peatonalizada: the Larios street. Inaugurated in 1891, to take a walk by her it is a delight for the tourist more, than by the beauty in himself, that are not excessive, if by its terracitas, and their stores. The tranquillity of which in all the historical center of Malaga cars do not circulate, makes pleasant still more. At the end of the street, by hand right we almost were with the small but typical Passage of Chinitas to which there is to show itself. And in front of him, the Seat of the Constitution, a seat of very Central European style: great, opened, and of design, but surrounded by buildings by more by a century of antiquity.

We continued our way, crossing the Seat until entering Granada street. The mediation, after to have crossed another pair of seats, and by hand right, we will see the one that stops my taste is the prettiest street of the center of Malaga: the street San Agustín, typically medieval. Paved with stones, reformed, that yes, and very relajante one. The buildings that frame it give a traditional flavor still more him: in the first place the Museum of Picasso, of forced visit, and a little advanced the Church of San Agustín more. From the principle of this street we obtain another typical photo, of a paved with stones street, narrows, with the Cathedral of bottom fitted between rows of balconies of flowers and small lampposts that hang of the brick walls. And at the aim we arrived at the Cathedral: the Manquita, by the lack of one of its towers. The Cathedral of the Incarnation, of centuries XVI-XVII emphasizes by its ashlar masonry, its Shrine, and externally by its Patio of the Naranjos, worthy to see. 19 the guided visits are from 10 to h. and Sundays until the 18 h. Probably it is, depending on the taken rate, the hour to have lunch. Two recommendations: or, we have been doing stopped by the way, and taking the typical tapeo so malagueño (cervecita and it covers) or we seated to have lunch. In the adjacent streets to the Cathedral there are very good inns and restaurants. If we want to also enjoy the chilly one of a precious seat, with views to the Palace of the Bishop (with a precious facade) and to the Porch of the Cathedral, we can eat in the Seat of the Bishop.

And indeed, going out by the Patio of the Naranjos Cister, we were in front by in front of the Fortress, the best testimony of medieval city that is conserved in the South of Spain: an authentic work of art whose feet the Roman theater extends. The Fortress is open of 9.30 h. to 20 h. and the entrance costs two euros, although a joint entrance with the Castle of Gibralfaro leaves by 3 euros. Raising the Alcazabilla street, by hand left we arrived at the Seat of the Favor, perhaps the seat more malagueña of all, where all the nocturnal and youthful atmosphere of the city is concentrated, and where in many occasions traditional swap-meets and celebrations are celebrated. To emphasize in this seat the Native House of Picasso. In this seat also you will find place very good where to eat: cheap like the Lettuce and the vegetarian whom there is, or of average prices like the typical Citron… and, by all means, many barecitos with its terracitas outdoors. The night falls, and has arrived the moment for lining up d new the Larios street to leave in the direction of the Park and the Marine Stroll to gather the car that we had left in the Stroll of the Lamppost… still we will have left things to see… but that… another day
